Before moving farther south, and arriving at our current stop, we spent about a month experiencing life in Dijon, France. It was actually a destination we almost overlooked! We had been planning the region, stopping in Strasbourg, Lyon, Annecy, and more when I noticed a name I recognized: Dijon. Yes, I recognized it because of the mustard. No, I had not realized before then that Dijon mustard was named after a place. Did I feel silly? Yes, absolutely.

 Dijon, France – a city that wears its history like a badge of honor while embracing modern life. From its medieval past to mouthwatering treats, here's why Dijon is an essential stop on your travel radar.



Nestled in the heart of Burgundy, Dijon boasts a history that dates back centuries. Once the capital of the Duchy of Burgundy, it's no surprise that the city oozes medieval charm. Grand palaces, Gothic churches, and cobbled streets whisper tales of a time long gone.

Dijon's historic center is a jaw-dropping open-air museum. Don't miss the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, a masterpiece of medieval architecture. Dijon was an unforgettable experience, and definitely a place we can see ourselves returning to over and over.
